FAQ

Why is using a reflector a good idea?
A reflector is like life insurance, because it's very difficult to spot pedestrians or cyclists in the dark without one. Reflectors allow drivers to see pedestrians up to seven times farther away than if they were walking without one.
Why reflectors have marks on them?
Reflectors may have marks that look like spots or scratches, but these are normal during the production process and unavoidable when printing reflective material. They do not diminish the quality of the reflector.
Aren`t reflective stickers or reflective clothing enough?
It's always better than nothing! All methods for making yourself visible are effective, but it's important to note that these products are generally not certified. Therefore, they often don't meet minimum size requirements*, and their low light-reflecting capacity makes them more useful as decoration. Reflective fabrics, in particular, wear out quickly; therefore, they shouldn't be relied upon solely for outdoor use. That's why using several reflective products is safer.
*The reflectivity of a reflector is indicated by its CIL value, which must be at least 400 CIL. The higher this number, the better the reflector's reflectivity. In addition to the CIL value, the reflector standard requires a reflective surface area of at least 15.6 cm².
How to use a reflector?
When it comes to reflectors, the more the merrier, but a single one can be effective if carefully positioned. For optimal visibility, it's recommended to hang the reflector at knee height so it can pivot freely and be visible from both the front and the back. Drivers will notice you more easily if you attach it to the side facing the road. If your reflector is damaged, replace it with a new one.
Why do some of your reflectors have different CE markings?
All my reflectors are CE marked. The CE marking is a declaration from the manufacturer or importer attesting that the product complies with the requirements of current European legislation.
The EN 17353:2020 standard replaces the older EN 13356 and EN 1150 standards. Reflectors approved according to the older standards are still available for purchase and can be used without issue.
How useful is a reflector?
A driver using dipped headlights can only spot a pedestrian without a reflector from about 50 meters away, while a pedestrian reflector is visible from 350 meters. A moving reflector is useful in the dark when encountering other road users, whether on a cycle path or a pedestrian crossing.
In dark and rainy weather, when visibility is poor, reflectors facilitate interaction with traffic and provide more time to react.
